Freddie Ray Johnston, 73, of Abilene went to be with Jesus on December 14, 2020 in Abilene.
A graveside funeral service will be held Wednesday, December 23, 2020, at 1:00 PM at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Abilene.
Freddie was born on February 1, 1947 in Cisco, Texas to the late Dan Johnston and Bobbie Jean Webb. He married Billie Gail “BeeGee” Tackett on May 24, 1972 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He graduated from Cross Plains, Texas and attended HSU and played trombone in the Cowboy Band. Freddie graduated with a master’s degree F.N.P. from Stoney Brook University, New York. He and BeeGee loved to travel and ride motorcycles with Christian Motorcycle Association. He retired as a Captain after 22 years in the military, Army and Texas National Guard. Freddie practiced medicine for many years in the Abilene Community working with Dr. Randell and then opened his own Clinic, Abilene Family Medical Clinic, then spending the last 3 years with the Tim Martin practice. He treated all his patients with care and dignity and would not hesitate to share Jesus or have a moment of prayer with them. Freddie was a longtime member of Beltway church and will be dearly missed by family, friends, and patients.
Freddie was preceded in death by Billy, his younger brother, his parents Dan and Bobbie Johnston, and his oldest son, Terry.
Freddie is survived by his loving wife of 48 1/2 years, BeeGee Johnston; his children Tommy (Leslie), Robin (Bobby), Jennifer, and Audrey;
Grandchildren Brandon and Landon, Terry Christopher, Melody, Adam, Brianna, Olivia, Sophia, Meagan, Wesley, Emma and Ethan; 6 great grandchildren; his brother Bobby; and a large extended family.
