Gaylon Harris

Gaylon Earl Harris, 69, of Abilene passed away December 7, 2015 in Abilene.

Gaylon was born on October 1, 1946 in Coleman, Texas to the late Vernon Earl Harris and Patsy Ruth Harris. After graduating from Coleman High School in 1965 he attended Tarleton State University and graduated in 1969. During his time at Tarleton he met and married Barbara Joy Burgan on September 20, 1968 in Stephenville. Gaylon received his Master's Degree from Tarleton in 1974. He taught Vocational Agriculture at Anson High School for 23 Years. In 1992 he was named Anson Outstanding Citizen of the Year. He was named FFA Honorary American Farmer and FFA Honorary State Farmer. Gaylon was a teacher and counselor for TDCJ Windham School at Palestine, Colorado City and Snyder. Gaylon was a Baptist and will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Gaylon is survived by his wife Barbara Joy Harris; 2 sons, Jeffrey Harris and wife Debbie and their children Brennan and Colton of Tuscola, Cody Harris and his children Taylor and Shawnee of Lubbock; daughter in-law, Lynell Harris.

Gaylon requested his service be a private family gathering at a later date.
