Gearld E. Bingham, 68, of Abilene went to be with the Lord on Monday, November 16, 2015 in Fort Worth, Texas.
Funeral service will be held Monday, November 23 at 10:00 AM at First Baptist Church of Abilene, Texas. Interment will follow at Elmwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South.
Gearld was born November 18, 1946 in McAlester, Oklahoma to Eugene and Gearldine Bingham. He attended and graduated from Howard Payne University, where he met Pam Sutterfield whom he married on August 25, 1968 in Midland, Texas. They were blessed with 47 beautiful years together. Gearld enjoyed teaching high school biology and chemistry and coached football and basketball until he decided to follow his passion for medicine. He attended Baylor College of Medicine in Houston and graduated as a Physician's Assistant. Gearld loved working with and helping his patients, and they loved him. It was not unusual for him to talk to patients on a Saturday or even make a house call if someone was in need. Gearld served our community many years and had just retired from working at Dr. Rae Ann Hamilton's practice on October 30, 2015.
Gearld loved to have fun and laugh, and was the heart of his family. He spent countless hours with his children, playing, teaching and helping coach their sports teams. Gearld loved to fish, hunt, and golf, but more importantly he loved people and was willing to help them in any way he could. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Abilene and served as a Deacon, a youth Sunday school teacher, and on many committees. Gearld will be dearly missed by all those blessed to have been touched by his life. Those who love him will mourn; but more importantly, the family will celebrate the life we shared together with our beloved son, brother, husband, father, and Dado. The legacy of love he leaves in the family he brought together is a beautiful example of his life.
Gearld is survived by his wife, Pam Bingham; son Michael Bingham and wife Shari of Mansfield, TX; daughter Kera Watts of Fort Worth, TX and grandchildren Emory, Davis, and Whitney; Gearld's mother, Gearldine E. Bingham of Wichita Falls, TX and sister, Nita Fleming of Wichita Falls, TX and her husband Benny; father- in- law, Burton Sutterfield of Abilene, TX; and nieces, nephews and loved ones.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Gearld Bingham Physician Assistant Scholarship Fund at Hardin Simmons University or a charity of their choice.
