George W. Elliott Jr., 77, died Monday, June 07, 2010 in Abilene. His funeral service with Robert Winter officiating will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, June 11 in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 HWY 277 South with burial following in the Garden of Gospel at Elmwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursday at Elmwood Funeral Home.
George was born in Ft. Worth on March 5, 1933 the son of George Walter Elliott Sr. and Annie Lorena Elliott. He grew up in Tuscola and graduated from South Taylor High School. He married Mary Nell Johnson at Caps Baptist Church on March 27, 1954. George was a warehouse supervisor with the Texas Department of Transportation for 37 years, retiring in 1993. He enjoyed gardening and fishing and was a devoted member of the Cowboy up with Gods Word Church of Abilene. He loved his children and grandchildren deeply.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Mary Nell Elliott of Abilene two sons, David Elliott and wife Mary of Abilene, and Ronnie Elliott of Cedar Hill a granddaughter, GiNell Elliott of St. Louis, Missouri his sister, Peggy Templeton and husband H.L. of Potosi daughterinlaw, Grace Jones and husband Mark of Abilene brothersinlaw, Bob Johnson and wife Erma of Abilene and Dalton Johnson and wife Ouida of Caps a niece Michelle Collier and husband Mike and their son Marc of Potosi.
His son, Gary Don Elliott and grandson, Gregory Elliott preceded him in death.
Pallbearers for the service will be Russell Miller, Rocky Sanders, Todd, Dewayne, Larry and Colt Johnson.
