George Watson

George Watson, 82, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 21, 2016. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Monday, July 25, 2016 at Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 Hwy 277 South. Interment will follow in Tye Cemetery.

George was born May 20, 1934 in Andrews, Texas to Judge and Gladys (Pilgren) Watson. He grew up with five siblings and enjoyed playing baseball. He was the best carpet layer Abilene ever had, working in the industry over 50 years. He married Therese Darlene Oakley on August 24, 1968. He enjoyed his family, traveling and gambling.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, J.R., and his wife, Darlene, after 37 years of marriage.

He is survived by daughter Fondale Smoot of Abilene, and her children Brandon, Rhiannon and Shelia; daughter Crystal Baker and husband Donald of Electra, and their daughter, Zabryna. He is also survived by sons James Lyons, Jeffrey Lyons, Jamey Lyons, Jay Lyons and daughter Joyce Lyons and their children and grandchildren. He is survived by numerous other family members.
