Geraldine Bowdon

Geraldine "Gerry" Bowdon, 86, of Abilene, Texas passed away Tuesday, May 24, 2022, in Abilene.

A visitation will be held on May 26, 2022, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 US HWY 277 S. Abilene, Texas 79606. A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 27, 2022, at 10 AM at Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Elmwood Memorial Park.

Gerry was born on July 24, 1935, to Robert A. Butler and Berniece E. Cherry Butler in Beaumont, Texas. She married John R. Bowdon on December 4, 1953. They Were blessed with 61 years of marriage until John passed away on October 26, 2014. Gerry worked as a homemaker and in support of John serving in the Air Force. She was a great cook and loved caring for others. Gerry enjoyed reading and working crossword puzzles. She was a longtime member of Broadview Baptist Church.

Gerry was also preceded in death by her parents, Robert, and Berniece Butler; a daughter, Mary Bowdon.

Gerry is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Nix; son, Lee Bowdon; grandchildren, Scott Nix and wife Kimberly, Matthew Nix; great grandchildren, Saraphina Nix and Georgia Nix; sister, Cherry Dorsett, and husband John; cousins, Kari Moses and husband Jeffrey, Cindy Wells and husband George, Steven Dorsett and wife Jennifer.
