Gladys Elzada Thornton Freeman, 96, passed away March 11, 2011, in Abilene. Visitation will be Monday, March 14, 2011, from 6 till 8 PM at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South. Funeral service will be 10:00 AM, Tuesday, March 15, 2011, at the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel.
Elzada was born April 20, 1914, to Glenn E. Mage and Annie Lucenda Isenhour Thornton in Abilene. She graduated from Abilene High School in 1932 and went on to graduate from Draughn Business College. She married Ellis Gaddy Freeman on January 1, 1939, in Anson and was a devoted farm wife. She was a member of the Church of Christ and was a civilian employee for Dyess Air Force Base for several years until her retirement. She loved and cherished her family and will be missed.
She is survived by her two sons, Grant Freeman and wife Nancy of Abilene, Glenn Freeman of Abilene five grandchildren, Kerry Moore, Christopher Freeman, Danny Freeman, Michael Freeman, Mark Freeman 8 great grandchildren, Megann and Katelann Burrow, Jase Freeman, Zack Freeman, Matt Freeman, Caleb Freeman, Shawn Freeman, Stephen Freeman one greatgreat granddaughter, Avery Freeman one nephew Tyman Ash and wife Toby of Nederland, TX.
Elzada was preceded in death by her husband, her daughterinlaw, Susie, her parents, and one sister Martha Ash.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Care Inn, The Oaks at Radford Hills, and Hendrick Hospice Care for their wonderful care and support they showed throughout the years.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations are suggested to Hendrick Hospice Care, 1682 Hickory Street, Abilene, TX 79601.
