Glenn Nelson

August 8, 1946 — February 19, 2012

After a long and courageous battle with cancer, Glenn Van Nelson Bubba, age 65, left this earthly world to be with his heavenly Father on February 19, 2012. He is predeceased in death by his mother Opal Bernice Nelson, his father Marvin Van Nelson, and sister Marita Darlene Nelson.
Bubba was born in Blanchard, Oklahoma on August 8, 1946. Bubba loved playing baseball and drag racing during his childhood and teenage years. Bubba found his calling as a salesman early in life and enjoyed working until 2011. Bubba moved to Abilene in 1994 and continued to work for Arrow Ford where he worked for twenty years. Bubba was affectionately known by his customers and coworkers as Bargain Bin Bubba. In his spare time, Bubba enjoyed hunting, golfing, auto racing, Dallas Cowboys football, and OU football.
Bubba could light up a room. Everyone could feel Bubbas energy and excitement when they were in his presence and his passion for life was contagious. Bubba never met a stranger once Bubba made your acquaintance, you were his friend for life. Anyone who knew Bubba knew he would give the shirt off of his back or the shoes off his feet for anyone he called a friend. His selflessness and his desire to help those in need was and continues to be an inspiration for his family and friends.
Bubba is survived by his wife of 16 years, Penny, his children Glenn Dale Nelson, Nicki Nelson Harkleroad, Pamela Bruce, Jennifer Sherry, Timothy Sherry, and Aaron Polasek, and his siblings Darrell Wade, Rita Jo Wade, Patty Nelson, and Debbie Wilkins. He is also survived by his grandchildren Brandon Harkleroad, Kalenn Nelson, Kara Nelson, Hunter Nelson, Nelson Bruce, Marshall Harkleroad, Jacob Harkleroad, Creed Nelson, and Wyatt Sherry, his greatgrandchildren Jude Harkleroad, Quintenn Haymer, and Kalawni Nelson, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Glenn Dad Papa Poppy Bubba touched the hearts of all who knew him. He was a wonderful husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend who will be deeply missed. His family and friends find peace knowing that Glenn is now in heaven watching over them.
