Gloria Prock

Gloria Stewart Prock was called to Christs side on Sunday, January 20, 2008 at the age of 85.

Funeral service was held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 23, 2008 at Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Greg Kennedy officiating; burial followed in Elmwood Memorial Park.

Gloria was born in Desdemona, TX on January 7, 1923; she was the only child of Claude and Clara Stewart of Hamlin. She graduated from Texas Tech in 1943 with honors, earning a BBA degree in Secretarial Skills. She was always very active in the business world until recent years.

Not long after graduating from Tech, she met the love of her life, Edward C. Prock and on Valentines Day, 1945 they were married and remained happily married until his death in 1982. The two of them relocated to El Paso, and in 1952 they adopted their only child, Nancy Dianne Prock. The family returned to Abilene and was welcomed by many old friends in the winter of 1961.

Gloria was gifted as a wonderful pianist; she played for groups that she belonged to and for her many special friends whom she loved and held dear. She was an active member of the St. Paul Methodist Church of Abilene, Abilene Womens Club, Carpe Diem Study Club and was an avid bridge player.

She is survived by her daughter Nancy and husband Scott Meeks of San Marcos; granddaughters, Kelli Meeks of San Antonio, Kristin Meeks of San Marcos; great-grandchildren, Dasian and Caleb Meeks and Saori Gomez all of San Antonio. She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband and a granddaughter, Valerie Nicolle Meeks.

In lieu of flowers the family request that contributions be made to the charity of choice or the Valerie Meeks Memorial Scholarship Fund, Navarro High School, P.O. Drawer 10, Geronimo, TX 78115.
