Hannah W. Richards passed away on Sunday, May 18, 2008.
Visitation for family and friends will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Friday, May 23, 2008 at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy. 277 South, Abilene. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 24, at Brook Hollow Christian Church, 2310 S. Willis, Abilene, with Pastor Ross Bennett officiating, assisted by Reverend Von Worten, Hannahs brother. Interment, with military honors, will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Hannah was born in Pawhuska, Oklahoma in 1919. She was a decorated WWII veteran, earning the Bronze Star while serving in the Womens Army Corps from 1943-1945. She had been a resident of Abilene for over 50 years, arriving here with her husband, Otis Richards, in 1948. She was an active member of the League of Women Voters, Daughters of the American Revolution, Brook Hollow Christian church and a founding member of Abilene PEO Chapter CK.
Hannah was a friend to many, a loving wife, mother and a grandmother of nine grandchildren, Amanda, Ashley and Austin Smith, Jessica, Taylor, and Lindsey Richards, Sara, Emma and Whitney Webb.
Her husband, Otis and her children, Otis Richards Jr., Mike and Elaine Richards, Susan Smith and Rebecca and Geoffrey Webb request that in lieu of flowers, donations be forwarded to the PEO Scholarship Fund, Chapter CK, co Herbie West, 3465 S. 6th Street, Abilene, Texas 79605.
