Harold Evans

December 18, 1931 — October 25, 2013

Harold Evans went to be with the Lord Friday, October 25, 2013 after a battle with cancer for ten years. He passed away peacefully at a local hospital. He is survived by his wife Linda Evans of Abilene two daughters, Brenda Evans and Shellie Smith and her husband, Carl, all of Ft. Worth two brothers, Dinsel Evans and wife, Shirley, and Roy G. Evans and wife, Evelyn one sister, Jean Estes, all of Abilene several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Roy Evans and Dola Proctor Evans one son, Troy Evans one brotherinlaw, Don W. Estes.
Harold was born in Winters, Texas, December 18, 1931, being the son of a minister they moved frequently and finally settled down in Abilene. Harold graduated from Abilene High School and then Joined the United States Air Force in 1951. He retired in 1971 at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, MS after twenty years of dedicated service to our Country. He continued to work at Keesler AFB in Civil Service. He lived in Biloxi for thirtyeight years before returning to Abilene in 2005.
Harolds life will be celebrated Thursday, October 31, 2013 at 10:00 AM at Victory Church, 2943 S. 6th Street. Interment will follow the service at Texas State Veterans Cemetery of Abilene with full military honors. Visitation will be 68 PM, Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South.
The family would like to thank all the doctors and nurses at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston and Abilene Regional Medical Center for all their care and concern.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorial donations be made in Harolds honor to the American Cancer Society, 3402 N 1st Street, Abilene, TX 79603.
