Harold "Boyd" Suiter, 87, was called home on May 31st, 2017. He passed peacefully with loved ones by his side at Abilene Regional Medical Center.
Boyd was born in Dallas, TX on March 30th, 1930 to JD and Wilma Suiter. Boyd served in the United States Air Force from 1950 to 1974. His C-130 flight career took him around the world. His bravery during the Vietnam & Korean Wars earned him many awards, including the Distinguished Flying Cross. On Christmas day in 1965, he & his crew aborted a direct order and landed in enemy territory to save other fellow C-130 crew members who had been shot down during the Vietnam War. Not only in war, but also in our hearts, Dad will forever be our hero.
He was funny, his laugh was infectious and he loved to tell war stories, watch football, western movies and NASCAR. He also looked forward to dancing and date night with Mom. One of his favorite things to do was pop a beer, spend time with his family and tell jokes.
Survivors include his sons Gene Suiter & wife Lori of Henderson NV, Neil Suiter & wife Joni of Henderson NV, Jeff Suiter & wife Kathy of Midland TX; his daughters, Tracy Stahl & husband Greg of Modesto, California, Alicea Pennartz & husband Dr. Todd Pennartz of Breckenridge TX and numerous grand-children, great-grand-children, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
