Hazen Daniel Hopper On December 20, 2020 "Dan" Hopper went to be with his Lord and Savior. He was Born August 19, 1942 in Wyandotte, Michigan to parents, Harry & Evelyn Jean (Branch) Hopper. He was an avid bowler, hunter, golfer, story teller, with a love for novels, movies and music. He joined the Air Force in 1960 and he was shipped to Lackland AFB in San Antonio. He was then shipped to Dyess AFB where he met Sharon Myers and they wed on November 2nd, 1963 at Zion Lutheran Church in Abilene.
Dan & Sharon raised three beautiful daughters: Laurie Ann Burleson of Abilene, Tracy Lynn Griffon of Abilene, Becky Jean Humphrey and husband Duane of Granbury. They were blessed with 5 Grandchildren: Lauren (Raymond) Bullard, Heather (Johnathan) Collier, Justin Paul Maddux, Lexie (Andrew) Avera, and Bryan Burleson. Along with 4 great grandchildren: Braxton & Jase Bullard, Trinidee & Cash Collier. He is survived by 2 brothers: Robert Hopper and wife Carey & Randy Hopper and wife Angie, also a sister Nancy Aston and husband Shawn of Michigan, Brother-in-law Royce Myers and Sister-in-law Cathy (Myers) King both of Abilene, with many other family members in Texas and Michigan.
He will always be known as a man with many friends. Dan retired in 1982 after 22 years in the Airforce and another 22 years of service for the U.S Postal Service. The family attended Our Savior Lutheran Church in Abilene.
He was preceded in death by his parents ,a brother Charles Hopper, and sister Katherine Loniecki.
Visitation will be held 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM, Monday, December 28, 2020 at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South. A grave side service with full military honors will be held 10:00 AM, Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at the Texas Veterans Cemetery, 7457 W. Lake Rd, with Pastor LaVerne Janssen, a memorial service will be pending at a later date.
