Helen Dudensing, 93, passed away Saturday, May 14, 2016 in Merkel. Visitation will be 6:00 till 8:00 PM, Monday, May 16, 2016 at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South. Funeral will be 2:00 PM, Tuesday, May 17, 2016 in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel.
Helen was born January 25, 1923 in Haskell County Texas to Hermann and Mary Kretschmer. She was born and raised in the Erby community and a life-long resident of Haskell County. She and her two brothers and 3 sisters lived with her parents on the family's farm in eastern Haskell County. She grew up tending livestock and helping work the farm and taking care of nieces not much younger than her. Through her parents she learned hard work and love for family. She married Clement Dudensing on February 9, 1947. She was a housewife, loving mother and wife. She and Clement farmed in the Paint Creek community, raised chickens, hogs, and cattle along with growing crops. Helen and Clement devoted their lives to raising their 3 children. They were members of Christ Lutheran Church later to Bethel Lutheran Church. All who knew Helen, knew of her love for family and her love for Clement.
The family would like to give special thanks to Brenda, her family and helpers for the loving care given to our Mother.
She is preceded in death by her husband Clement; 2 brothers, Walter Kretschmer and Herbert Kretschmer; 1 sister, Lydia Ivy, and son-in-law, Gene.
She is survived by: 2 sisters, Lena Halfman of San Angelo, Betty Bittner of Carlsbad, NM; and Sister-in-law, Marie Kretschmer of San Angelo; 2 sons and their wives, Glenn and Debbie Dudensing of Abilene, Kenneth and Becky Dudensing of Sweetwater; 1 daughter, Peggy Jones of Abilene; grandchildren, Jamie Redmon and husband Mac, Matt Dudensing and wife Stephanie, Jeff Dudensing and wife Rebekka, Michelle Calderon and husband Jesus; 8 great grandchildren, Corbin, Hank, Barrett, Carter, Blaine, Anson, Austin and Samuel .
