Helen P. Grissom of Abilene, 89, passed away on Thursday, December 20, 2007 at a local care center.
Funeral Service will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 22, 2007 at Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 Hwy. 277 South with Rev. Wayne Oglesby officiating; interment will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park under the direction of Elmwood Funeral Home.
Helen was born on April 16, 1918 in Denton, TX to Earl A. and Grace Mounts Padgett. She attended North Texas State Teachers College and was a teacher for a few years. She married Harold H. Grissom on September 19, 1946. Helen was a loving mom and homemaker and worked as a secretary for her husbands business, Grissom Engineering in Abilene. She was a long time member of the First Baptist Church of Abilene.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Don and Jackie Grissom of Houston; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sheri and David Rhine of Georgetown Kentucky, and Carol and David Lackey of Abilene; sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Hugh Antoine of Laguna Park; three grandchildren, Christy Rhine, Melanie Lackey and Shawn Bogle; great-grandchild, DaMya Washington; brother-in-law, Loyd Grissom of Abilene; sister-in-law, LaVerne Hicks of Irving.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold H. Grissom on February 26, 2003; brother, Bud Padgett and a sister, Gladys Bo Taylor.
