Henry Crane

Henry Eugene Crane, 88, passed away Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at his home in Abilene. His funeral service with Jacky McCarty officiating will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, April 16th in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 HWY 277 South. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday at Elmwood Funeral Home.

Mr. Crane was born on September 10, 1922 in Abilene the son of Hooper Herman Crane and Eula Frances Dotson. He was a graduate of Abilene High School and served in the ArmyAir Corp during WWII. On January 18, 1946 he married LaWanda Wood and they recently celebrated 65 years of marriage. Mr. Crane was the owner of SureKill Pest Control in Abilene for 27 years and was a lifetime member of South Park Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife LaWanda of Abilene 5 children, Carolynn Christian and husband Phillip of Houston, Mark Crane of Abilene, Dennis Crane and wife Marsha of Clyde, Tammie Davis and husband Jimmy of Abilene, and Clark Crane and wife Cindy of Abilene 9 grandchildren, Ricky, Greg, Lindsey, Jessica, April, Cole, Christopher, Terri and Brandy 11 great grandchildren and two sisters, Dorothy Crane Skipworth of Abilene and Wanda Crane of Irving.

One sister, Lola Mae Crane French, 4 brothers, Floyd, JD, Billy Jack and Troy Crane, a daughter, Terry Laverne Crane and a grandson, Rusty Crane preceded him in death.

Memorial donations are suggested to the American Heart Association.
