Henry Kearny

September 16, 1949 — February 8, 2023

Henry Joseph "Foots" Kearny age 73 passed away on February 8, 2023, after a long battle with cancer. There will be a Celebration of Henry's Life from 2:00-4:00 PM, on Sunday, March 5, 2023 in Elmwood Funeral Home's Family Center, 5750 Hwy 277 South in Abilene, Texas.

Henry was born September 16, 1949, in Dallas, Texas to Joseph Henry and Leah Kearny. He started with the Katy Railroad, MKT Line, in the late 60's while still in high school. After finishing college, he went to work fulltime as a clerk/operator, moving into management in the MIS department. He retired from the Katy in 1988, then had a long career in the Engineering Dept. at UTA. He taught Computer Science and Introduction to EE for 20 plus years.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Leah Kearny; and his first wife, Rebecca Edwards Kearny.

He is survived by his wife, D'Dee Kearny; loving son Marcus Kearny who has been by his side. He is also survived by those he held as his children, Jennifer, Kristian, and Paike Morris; grandchildren, Caroline Morris, Ethan and James Morris Hodges, Danny, and Ema Cothran.

Henry had a large cheering section with a host of loyal family and friends. The Taylor County HAM radio families have been right by his side encouraging him and keeping him uplifted throughout his illness.

He will be dearly missed by his family and dear friends.
