Herbert Heath, 83, passed away May 22, 2018 in Abilene. Visitation will be 6:00 - 8:00 PM, Thursday, May 24, 2018 at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South. Graveside funeral service will be 10:00 AM, Friday, May 25, 2018 in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Herb was born October 7, 1934 in Abilene, TX to parents, Harvey and Pauline Heath. He attended school in Hawley, TX. He married Margaret Grounds in 1956 in Novice, TX and they enjoyed more than 50 years of marriage until her passing in 2010. Soon after their marriage Herb joined the United States Army and was stationed at Fort Lewis in Tacoma, Washington. After returning to Abilene in 1959 he began his career as a mechanic with M&G GMC where he worked for more than 30 years. He also owned and operated Herb's Truck Service until his retirement in 1998. He enjoyed attending Broadview Baptist Church, hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family.
Herb is survived by two daughters, Kathy Kerbow and husband Tony, and Kristy Hampton and husband Dwayne; six grandchildren, Jim Kerbow and wife Christen, Travis Kerbow and wife Tatum, Adrienne Ruffin and husband Gregg, Heather Canada and husband Patrick, Bryan Hampton, Jayna Hampton and husband Clay Lohse; two brothers, Luther Heath and Danny Heath; three sisters, Susie Hasty, Lucy Nietzler, and Jerry Mae Allison.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret; two brothers, Ronnie George and Charlie Dunn; five sisters, Earlene Martin, Alice Fay Heath, Betty Louise Heath, Wanda Terrell, and Ruby Jean Bullard.
