Herman A. Baker, Jr., 78, of Winters, TX died on Monday, July 14, 2008 at a local hospital.
Memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 26, 2008 at First United Methodist Church, 141 N. Church St., Winters, TX with Pastor Joe Chamness officiating. Following the memorial services the family would like to invite all who attend the service to stay for a covered dish luncheon at the church.
Herman was born on June 8, 1930 in Winters, TX to Herman and Susie Baker. He married Sue Dismore Barrett in 1961 in Ballenger, TX. They moved to Abilene, TX in 1976. He worked for Dunigan Tool and Supply for 38 years. He returned to Winters in 1986 after his wife Sue passed away where he worked until retirement for Air Mate. He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Winters. A good day for Herman was when he could get a round of golf in and do a little fishing; he also enjoyed an occasional game of three-card poker.
He is survived by a daughter, Jeri Baker of Austin; son, Trey Baker of Sweetwater; two sisters, Susie McDaniel of Ft. Worth, TX and Clara Thornton of North Carolina; three grandchildren, Joni Busby of McCamey, Brittany Barrett of Austin, and Keli Baker of Austin; and a great-granddaughter Saige Busby of McCamey.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sue Baker, a brother, and two sisters.
