Hertha Choate, 86, of Abilene passed away Monday, December 9, 2019 in Abilene.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene.
Hertha was born on June 18, 1933 in Neubistritz, Germany to the late Franz Riebel and Maria nee Bischof. She married Carl J. Choat on December 8, 1966 in Vermilion, Louisiana and they were blessed with 50 years of marriage until Carl’s passing on February 11, 2017. Hertha worked for many years at Dyess Air Force base for civil service in several different positions. She was known to love all animals and enjoyed participating in dog shows. Hertha loved to travel extensively when she was able and taught a fitness class for many years.
Hertha is survived by her son, Michael Choate (Collette); nephew, Edward Velez; niece, Dede Miles (Dana); dear friend, Barbara Obrien; many family and friends.
