Hillery T. Collinsworth, 87, passed away Thursday, December 24, 2009 at his home in Abilene. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 5:00 PM on Sunday at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 HWY 277 South. His funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, December 28th in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at 1:00 PM at Johnson Cemetery in Moran.brbrHillery was born in Shackleford County on June 4, 1922 the son of William Thomas Jones Collinsworth and Eva Lacy Collinsworth. He served in the U.S. Army during WW II and later married Mamie Ruth Joy. He has been a resident of Abilene since 1956 where he retired as a mechanic with the Abilene Fire Department. brbrHillery was a dependable, hard worker, never missing a day of work. He enjoyed hunting and fishing; he loved his grandchildren and his dog and had a wonderful sense of humor.brbrSurvivors include six children, Hilda Ruth Clark and husband Allen of Rocky, Oklahoma, Gary Eugene Collinsworth of Iowa Park, Glynda G. Hollowell and husband Ben of Maryneal, Marshall Ray Collinsworth and wife Vanita, Sandra Lynn Hopkins and Michael J. Collinsworth all of Abilene; 16 Grandchildren, 28 Great Grandchildren and 2 Great-Great Grandchildren.brbrHis wife of 65 years, his parents, and three brothers, Bob, Frank and Jessie preceded him in death.br
