Homer Haden

Homer Don Haden, 65, passed away Saturday, July 4, 2009 in Abilene. A graveside service will be held at 10: 00 AM on Wednesday, July 8, 2009 in Elmwood Memorial Park, Garden of Hope under the direction of Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 HWY 277 South.

Homer was born on December 21, 1943 in San Angelo the son of Eric Jopling Haden and Emma Frances Browder Haden. He was a graduate of Abilene High School, earned his Bachelors Degree in Accounting from McMurry University and proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. Homer worked as an accountant for Crawford Firestone for 14 years before going into business as the owner and operator of Haden Sprinkler Systems. He enjoyed collecting Antique tools and was a talented author of short stories.

Survivors include his son, Daniel Devore Haden of Kansas; his mother, Emma Frances Haden of Abilene; his brother, Bill Haden and wife Betty of Pipe Creek, Texas; nephew, Steven Christopher Haden; niece, Amy Lynn Haden; and great nephew, Noah Edward Castamore.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to Wylie Baptist Church, Building Fund, 6097 Buffalo Gap RD- Abilene, TX 79606.
