Homer Wayne Hedrick, 78, loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away Wednesday, April 11, 2012 in Abilene. His funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, April 16th in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 HWY 277 South with interment following in Elmwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 PM on Sunday at Elmwood Funeral Home.
Wayne was born on October 17, 1933 in Hereford, Texas the son of Otis Hedrick and Ruby Callaway Hedrick. He served our country during the Korean and Vietnam wars and retired as a Chief Petty Officer working in aviation electronics after 22 years of service with the U.S. Navy. After his military career, Wayne worked over 20 years for Texas Instruments. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and driving his antique cars in local parades, homecomings and weddings. He was a 32730 Mason and was a member of the Model A Club and the Moon Club.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Wanda Hedrick of Abilene his children, Daniel Hedrick and wife Maria of Austin, David Hedrick and wife Terri of Abilene, Richard Hedrick and wife Angie of Riverside, Iowa, Curtis Hedrick and wife Karrie of Abilene, Ruby Freiley and friend Steve Benoit of Dallas and Rhonda Harendt and husband Jon of Abilene two brothers, Hollie Hedrick and wife Mary of Fresno, California and Temple Hedrick and wife Claudia of Auberry, California numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren and special family, Brian and Joy Freiley.
His parents and two sisters, Carolyn Gagnon and Evelyn McDaniel preceded him in death.
