Hubert Martin

Hubert Eugene Martin, 80, passed away Monday, May 17, 2010 in Abilene. Visitation will be 6 till 8 PM on Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South. His funeral service will be 10:00 AM, Thursday, May 20, 2010 at Elmwood Funeral Home.

Hubert was born on August 26, 1929 in Albany, TX to Hugh and Eula Martin. He graduated from Albany High School and joined the United States Navy. Shortly after being discharged from the Navy he was drafted into the United States Army to serve our country during the Korean War. He graduated from Ranger College with an Associate degree and then married Betty Bond on January 3, 1954. He was a lifelong employee of Schkade Brothers Drilling Company. He was a member of the VFW.

Hubert is survived by his wife of 56 years, Betty Martin one son, Gene Martin and wife Adelia three daughters, Beverly ONeal and husband Art, Kathy Troy and husband Richard, Elizabeth Montalvo and husband Hector eleven grandchildren nineteen great grandchildren one brother, Bill Martin and wife Laverne one sister, Barbara Jones and husband Bill numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and one puppy dachshund, Gypsy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, five sisters, and his motherinlaw, Mammie.
