Ida was a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great grandmother. She will be sorely missed.
Ida was born August 29, 1936 in Wichita, Kansas to Clarence W. and Mabel Etta Roehrman. After attending Oklahoma Baptist University for one year she met and married Eugene N. Hendrix, a Texan, December 31, 1955 and moved with him to Dallas, Texas in 1960. In 1981 they moved to Comanche, Texas and joined the fellowship of Eastside Baptist Church where she faithfully served on many committees and taught Sunday school for 24 years.
Ida worked in the insurance industry most of her adult life. She owned and operated Heartlands Insurance Agency in Comanche, Texas. While living in Lawn she worked at Booler Insurance Agency in Tuscola, Texas. As successful as she was in insurance, her greatest devotion was to her children and grandchildren. This devotion led to her desire to move to the Abilene area. She enjoyed antique auto tours, football, as well as doll and sculpture collecting.
Ida was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence W. and Mabel Etta Roehrman.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years and 10 months; one daughter, Becky Bradford of Abilene; one son and daughter-in-law, Matt and D.D. Hendrix of Elm Valley Tuscola Texas; three grandsons, Noah, Brayton, and Eli Hendrix of Elm Valley; three granddaughters, Lizzie and Dessie Hendrix of Elm Valley, and Aimee Bradford of Lawn; one great-grandson, Tyler Bradford of Lawn.
The family would like to express a very special thank you to the staff at Hendrick Hospice Care who so faithfully cared for her the last two months of her life.
Donations, if anyone wishes may be sent to St. Judes Childrens Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, one of Idas favorite charities.
