Inez Craghead

October 12, 1922 — January 15, 2018

Inez Tarver Craghead, 95, passed away on January 15, 2018 at 8:05pm, in Abilene. The family will have visitation, at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Highway 277 S, Abilene, Texas 79606, from 6-8p on Wednesday January 17th, 2018. Followed by services at 11am on Thursday, January 18, 2018. Her nephew, Dr Larry Tarver, will be officiating. Pallbearers for the service will be, Sam Callesen, Ricky Holderbee, Brandon Falls, George Hoffman V, Trevor Hoffman and Noah Hoffman.

Inez was born, to William Buchanan and Myrtle Mae Tarver, in Seymour Texas, on October 12, 1922. Third child, of eight. She Graduated from Baird high school, where she played basketball. After high school, she attended Draughons Business College, in Abilene. Married Cleo David Craghead in1942, retired from Timex and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She did volunteer work with several different organizations and was very involved with senior citizens groups. She enjoyed fishing, dominos, music and dancing. She was an excellent seamstress and cook. She traveled to numerous countries.

Preceded in death by her husband, both parents, her sister Etta Pauline Strain, brothers William Lewis Tarver and James Foy Tarver, two nephews and one niece.

Survived by her brothers, Maurice "Chuck" Lindberg Tarver, of Abilene, Joe Leland Tarver, wife Nona, of Lubbock, and sisters, Glyna Carmoleta Kretzler, of Midland, and Elsie Mae Creasman, of Ft Worth; her daughter, Carole Johnson, and husband James Johnson, of Oklahoma City; three granddaughters: Tammy Eastman, of Charlotte, NC, Kimberly Falls, and husband Wayne Falls, of Oklahoma City, Wendy Hoffman, and husband George Hoffman IV, of Oklahoma City; ten great grandchildren: Samantha Stonebraker, Brandon Falls, Matthew Eastman, George "Buddy" Hoffman V, Marriah Eastman, Jessica Falls, Trevor Hoffman, Maddison Eastman, Noah Hoffman and Lynae Hoffman; one great great granddaughter, Piper Stonebraker. Son, Carl Ray Craghead, of Abilene, and granddaughter Leah Thorne, and husband Dale Thorne, of Lubbock, and grand son, David Craghead, of San Angelo. Thirteen nieces and nephews and numerous great nieces and great nephews.
