Irene Polk Coe joined her Lord and Savior in heaven on January 2, 2015, in Richardson, Texas after visitation and prayer with her children and grandchildren.

Irene Coe was born to Leroy and Etta Polk on November 16, 1944. Upon graduating high school in Kerens, Texas, Irene attained licensure in Cosmetology. For more than 40 years Irene served the public as a beautician. Spending the majority of her career in Abilene, Irene was renowned as an owner and skilled operator at Princess Beauty Salon, Hair Identity, and Hair by Irene. Irene married Andy Coe in 1970, a young enlisted soldier in the US Air Force whose career carried them near and far; of particular note, Oxnard, California, where they were blessed with their eldest daughter, Vickie. Upon transfer to Fort Worth, Irene and Andy welcomed into the world their second daughter Kimberly and eldest son Andre. As retirement from Air Force approached, Irene and Andy completed their family with the birth of youngest son, Anthony, while stationed at Dyess AFB here in Abilene. There they established a loving home which they opened to family, friends, and church members in times of need. Irene was a true community servant quietly but steadfastly on the lookout for whosoever she could help in life. Irene was constant source of encouragement to her children, and she was proud of putting all four through college.
If you came to her salon, you found more than a haircut: you found a friend and a counselor. A member of King Solomon Baptist Church, Irene was proud of any opportunity to serve in missionary work, as an usher, and in the choir. If you visited her salon often enough you would eventually hear her practicing a lead song for the church choir.
She was preceded in death by: both parents; husband, Andy Ray Coe; eldest son, Andre Lavelle Phillip Coe; two sisters--Rosetta Polk and Pearlie Gillespie; three brothers--James Leroy Polk, William Polk, and Raymond Polk.
Irene's legacy will endure in the hearts, minds, and lives of:
three children-Vickie (Samuel, Sr.) Hall of Plano, Kimberly (Darrell) Bogney of Allen, and Anthony Coe of Round Rock; three sisters-Irma Brown of San Diego, Ozella (Crosby) Lindsey of Kerens, and Ruth Polk of Baltimore; three grandchildren-Samuel Hall, Jr., Jessica Hall, and Donovan Bogney; Irene touched the lives of numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, relatives, and friends.
