Isidro Villasis

Isidro Gelasan Villasis Ding, 62, died January 14, 2011 with his family by his side at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene Texas after a short fight with lung cancer.

Ding was born on May 15, 1948 the son of Damiano and Caridad Villasis. Isidro Gelasan Villasis was the third child and the first son to the couple. Ding graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Commerce Major in Economics from Mountain View College in Malaybalay Bukidnon, Mindanao Philippines. Ding worked as an Assistant Publishing Director for Negros Mission Conference. In 1984, Ding and his family moved to the United States, where they bought their first home in Clyde, Texas and later moved to Abilene, TX where he and his family permanently resided. He worked for the SeventhDay Adventist Texico Conference as a Literature Evangelist Colporteur and later worked at the Dyess Air Force Base Commissary for several years until he retired from there.

Dings hobbies included traveling, spending time with family and friends, home improvement and tennis. Ding was an active member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, Senior Citizens Tennis Club, and the FilipinoAmerican Association.

Ding is survived by his eight brothers and sisters Flor Villasis Quillino, Lilia Villasis Carmona, Laida Villasis Sesbino, Bert Villasis, Melia Villasis Alcantara, Erlinda Villasis Carbajosa, Corazon Villasis Gayo, and Hector Villasis. He is also survived by his children and their spouses, Neil Sydney, Precious Aster and Joseph Whiteley, Sidd Rowen and Fanny Villasis as well his sisterin law Joy Festejo and Miriam Festejo Cook. Ding has one grandchild, Trystan Matthew Villasis.

Ding was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Rhetorica Festejo Villasis in January 2000.

We are in our greatest sympathy for the death of our beloved father, brother, and friend Isidro Ding Villasis. May he rest in the arms of our loving Father in Heaven.

A funeral service will be held for him at Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 Hwy 277 South at 10:00 AM, Thursday, January 20, 2011. Visitation for family and friends will be held Wednesday, January 19, 2011 from 6 till 8 PM, at Elmwood Funeral Home.
