Jack Skipworth, 86, of Clyde, passed away Wednesday, April 22, 2009 in Ft. Worth. His funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, April 27, 2009 in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 HWY 277 South with burial following in Elmwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Sunday at Elmwood Funeral Home.
Jack was born on December 13, 1922 in Vernon where he grew up, attended school and in 1942 married Paula Jeter. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII, and worked at Gooch Packing from 1962 until his retirement in 1989. He was a member of Abilene Bible Church.
Jack was a loving father and grandfather and a devoted family man. He enjoyed traveling, gardening and was an avid fisherman. He loved a good joke and he loved to laugh.
Survivors include his daughter, Sharon Canada and husband Gary of Benbrook; sisters, Dot Rowland of Canyon and Lee Ryan of ; brother, Kenneth Skipworth of Abilene; grandchildren, Jacquelyn Mills, Steffanie Hayes, Mellanie Madara and Sarah Allen; 7 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 1998, his son, Richard Jack Skipworth, grandson, Jackie Paul Bryson, and siblings, Jewel Flynn, Leda Jean Beck, Betty Ann Kiselwick, Lillian Hix, Walter Skipworth, Raymond Skipworth, Earl Skipworth, Opal Skipworth.
