Jacqueline Butler Browning, 69, passed away Wednesday, March 1, 2011 at Hendrick Hospital in Abilene. Her funeral service with Pastor Clyde Kieschnick officiating will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, March 4th at Zion Lutheran Church, 2801 Antilley RD with burial following in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Jacqueline was born in Dallas, Texas to Jack Cole Butler and Thelma Ozelle Donley Butler on February 8, 1942. She attended Adamson High School in the Oak Cliff area of Dallas. On September 9, 1960 she married William Lex Browning at Irwindell Methodist Church. In July of 1978 they moved to Abilene after Lex went to work for Greyhound Bus Lines in 1974. She worked several years for the school system in the cafeteria and later worked at Wicks and Sticks and The Cookie Store in the Mall retiring in 1993. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church.
Her mother Thelma and her stepfather W.F. Blakeley and an infant daughter preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband, Lex Browning two daughters, Brenda Gale Bufkin and husband David and Sharon Lea Green and husband Roy all of Weatherford four grandchildren, David Tyler Bufkin, Lexi Briann Bufkin, Jacqueline Taylor Green and Sarah Makenzie Green three step grandchildren, Clifton Bufkin of Ranger, Nicole Koehler of Houston and Kimberly Green of El Campo two great grandchildren, Kynzlee Bufkin and Padun Bufkin who all brought great joy to her life. She is also survived by two brothers, Martin Neal Donley and wife Sharon Ruth of Georgetown and Joe Russell Blakley and his wife Debby of Dallas two sisters, Mary Lou Ivy and husband John of Carrollton and Carol Sue Donahue of Kingsland and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to Hendrick Pulmonary Rehabilitation or Zion Lutheran Church.
