Jacqueline Smith

Jacqueline Marie Smith went to be with her Lord and Savior on April 8, 2017. A visitation will be held 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM, Sunday, April 15, 2018 at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM, Monday, April 16, 2018 in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow the service in Elmwood Memorial Park.

Jacqueline was born September 29, 1927 to John and Myrtle Greenhaw in Giddings, Texas. Jacqueline married William Smith, Jr on August 23, 1947. She was a homemaker until the late 1960"s when she took an accounting job with the IRS. She worked for the IRS until her retirement in the early 1990's. She enjoyed the couple's lake house and cooking for her family. Jacqueline was known for her chocolate chip cookies, picking a tune on the guitar and love of sports. She was a member of Hyde Park Church of Christ in Austin, Texas before moving to Abilene and becoming a member at University Church of Christ. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, and a doting grandmother. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.

She is preceded in death by her parents; and several siblings.

Jacqueline is survived by a son, Ron and Joan Smith of Abilene; a daughter, Janice and Tom Smith of Wichita Kansas; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and one sister, Dot.
