James Cate

July 28, 1942 — October 22, 2013

James Levoice Cate, 71, passed away Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at his home in Putnam. His funeral service will be held at 2:30 PM on Monday, October 28th in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 HWY 277 South with interment following in Elmwood Memorial Park. Visitation is from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Sunday at Elmwood Funeral Home.

Levoice was born on July 28, 1942 in Gorman and grew up in Cisco. He joined the U.S. Air Force at a young age and retired after 20 years of service to our country. He then worked as a correctional officer at the Robertson Unit in Abilene for over 10 years. Levoice was an avid motorcyclist his entire life and had traveled to many bike rallies and ridden his motorcycle all over the United States. He enjoyed reading western novels and doing a little gambling at the casinos.

Survivors include his longtime companion, Geraldine Brandon of Putnam his children, Ronnie Cate of Abilene, Angela Yvonne Reimann and husband Glenn of Merkel, Tony Levoice Cate of Abilene, Steven Cate of Chula Vista, California, and Christopher Cate of Abilene his grandchildren, Chad and Casey Cate and William Reimann great grandchildren, CJ Cate and Gabriel Boyd his sister, Patsy Haigwood of North Carolina and his former wife and mother of his children, Janet Cate of Abilene.

His parents, James Bus Cate and Neta Marie Allen Cate and his son, Randy Bob Scott preceded him in death.
