James Thomas Green Jr. passed away Dec. 31, 2012 in Hospice at Lubbock due to complications from illness. He had just turned 90. His funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, January 3, 2013 in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 Hwy 277 South in Abilene. Interment will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Moose as he was known by many was born Dec 16, 1922 in Snyder, Texas to James Thomas Green Sr. and Blossom Ellen DicksonGreen. The family moved to Loraine, TX where he graduated from high school. He attended McMurray and later AM University. He joined the Navy and served in the pacific during WWII. Junior operated Greens Grocery of Loraine that opened in 1936. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking and working on guns as well as just being around people.
He was married Dec. 18, 1950 to Dorothy Cutbirth who preceded him in death in Dec of 1999. He was preceded in death, also, by his parents and three of his four sisters Blossom Lee Burstrom, Joy Cheek and Eleanor Scrivner,
Survivors include a sister, Patsy Afleck and husband Bert, of Dallas his daughter, Marsha Key and husband Steve of Lubbock and his son, Tom E. Green and wife Sharon, of Loraine grandchildren, Brian Key and wife Heather, of Lubbock, Shawn Key and partner Cliffton Cherry, of Midland Glenna Smith and husband Benjamin of Clarksville TN, Amanda Braster and husband Berry of Utrecht, The Netherlands, Alisha Morris and husband Chris of Loraine Stephanie Coffman and husband Brandon of Lubbock and Fynlan Green of Loraine. Junior had six greatgrandchildren, Faith, Campsey, Natalie, Zoe, Brianna, and Anderson. He also had many beloved nieces and nephews.
