James Stoker

James Jim Stoker, 71, passed away Monday, November 25, 2013 in Merkel. Funeral service will be 11:00 AM, Friday, November 29, 2013 at Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 Hwy 277 South. Interment will follow the service in Elmwood Memorial Park.
James was born June 29, 1942 in Mertins, TX to parents, Allen and Ella Mae Stoker. He graduated high school in Hillsboro, TX. After high school he joined the United States Army and served during Vietnam. He owned Stoker Insurance Agency where he was a Farmers agent for many years. After closing his agency he worked for the state in the prison system for several years. He married Glenda Greenway in May of 1980. Jim was a faithful member of Northside Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School and sang in the choir. He enjoyed playing basketball with the kids, working out at the YMCA, and watching sports especially the Cowboys. He also enjoyed spending time walking and playing with his dog Booger
Jim is survived by his wife, Glenda sons, Kevin Stoker and wife Lori, Wesley Greenway and wife Susan daughters, Pamela Brooks and husband Danny, Tammie Hatch and husband Allen ten grandchildren eleven great grandchildren brother, Larry Stoker and sister, Viola and husband Richard.
