James Stanley Coach Suba passed away April 8, 2011 at the age of 86 years. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Patricia Reese Suba children Lea Suba Kimbrell Jim, Tricia Suba Renfro Ray, Strech Suba Lou, and Jo Lyn Suba Iverson widow of Logan grandchildren Denver Renfro Kris, Kyle Kimbrell, Matthew Renfro, Grady Kimbrell, DJ and Sarah Iverson and greatgranddaughters Katherine and Norah Renfro sister, Gloria Wakeland Billy and nieces and nephews.
His greatest loves on this earth were his family, baseball and the Marine Corp. He loved to hunt, fish and spend time in Gods great outdoors. He taught and coached countless young people over the years in the classroom, on a field or in a gym, behind the wheel of a drivers education car, in the backyard or wherever he sat down. Coach taught in several school districts and retired from Sheldon ISD in 1985. He played college and semipro baseball and pitched batting practice for 13 years for the Colt 45s and the Houston Astros. He was a fixture at Colt 45 stadium, the Astrodome and Minute Maid Park from 1964 through the 2008 season.
Coach will be remembered by a host of friends for his generosity and ability to turn adversity into a learning experience.
The family wants to express their deep gratitude and appreciation to the staff at Wisteria Place.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the charity of your choice.
The family will have a viewing at Elmwood Funeral Home on Monday, April 11, from 68 pm. There will be a private burial on Tuesday, April 12.
