Jana "Gimi" McMullen, age 54, passed from this life into the arms of Jesus Monday morning, November 12, 2018.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, November 19, 2018 at 10:00 AM at the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Hamby Cemetery, Hamby, TX. Visitation will be held on Sunday November 18, 2018 from 4:00pm-5:00 PM. At the funeral home
Jana was born on August 6, 1964, to Herman Lee and Billie Maude Bishop McMullen. She graduated as salutatorian from Wylie High School in 1982. After high school, Jana moved to Stephenville, Texas. She obtained a Bachelor of Science in Social Work from Tarleton State University in 1987. In 1991, she received her Master of Science in Social Work from the University of Texas at Arlington. Jana spent her career advocating for "the least of these" and the ones that could not fight for themselves. She was selfless, unpretentious, sacrificing, resourceful, and talented beyond measure. Jana trusted in the Lord. Always knowing, He had a perfect plan and would always provide. She attended and served at The Northwest Church of Christ where she was member her entire life.
Jana is preceded in death by her grandparents WA and Denia Mae Bishop and Tennie Brown. Also, by her loving parents Herman and Billie McMullen.
Surviving Jana is her daughter Kajeanna Jones, granddaughters Kiara and Kasia Jones all of Abilene; Sister Cindy Steger of San Marcos, sister and brother-in-law Pam and Jacky Wallace of Abilene; nieces Pamela Steger (Angel) of San Marcos and Lindsay Wallace (Michael) of Abilene; Close family friend Stephanie McKnight of Abilene; Two aunts Rose Morris of Alvin and Laverne Lewis of Keene, along with several cousins.
