Jane B. Cutshaw, beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away peacefully at the age of 80, in Oval, TX on February 23, 2024. Jane was born in Pennsylvania to Albert and Alice Binns, on February 10, 1944. She married the love of her life, Burt Cutshaw in 1983.
Jane led a fulfilling career path dedicated to serving others. She worked for the Department of Agriculture in Washington D.C., Arizona State Disability Service, and retired from the Texas Department of Children Protection Services in 2011.
Beyond her professional life, Jane found joy in creating lasting memories with her loved ones. Her passion for sightseeing led to unforgettable adventures, including annual trips to California with her children when they were younger.
Those who knew Jane remember her as an exceptionally organized individual with an admirable strength of character. As a devoted mother, she exemplified kindness, intelligence, and resilience in every aspect of her life. Her strong will and nurturing nature left a deep impact on all who had the privilege of crossing paths with her.
Jane found solace and purpose in her faith, hobbies and interests that brought her immense joy. From studying the Bible and praying devoutly to using her musical talents by playing the piano and singing at Wesleyan Church in Phoenix, AZ. Jane's faith was at the core of everything she did. She was also an avid animal lover who generously donated to the SPCA for many years. Jane even enjoyed doing mundane tasks like pulling weeds or laundry, praying as she did these things. She would pray that God would remove anything that was not good in her heart so the bad did not choke out the good, as the weeds do in a yard, or that He would cleanse her mind and heart as we wash away the dirt off our clothes and make them clean again.
Jane is preceded in death by her loving husband, Edward Burton Cutshaw; parents, Albert and Alice Binns; daughter, Linda Oregon; and grandson, Richard Makeley.
Jane is survived by her daughter, Cindy McAnly-Kelly and husband John "David"; grandchildren, Tana Kauffman-Hubbard and husband Tremyane, Amber Makeley, Christina Daniels, Terrence Busby; 3 great grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren; 6 step great-grandchildren; sister, Joyce Hritz and husband Michael; along with numerous other family members and friends.
A visitation will be held on March 1, 2024, at Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 Hwy 277 South, in Abilene from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, followed by a Funeral Service on March 2, 2024 at Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 PM.
