Jason (Duke) Eugene Thompson was born in Dempsey Town, Pennsylvania on December 16, 1936, to his loving parents, Harold and Esther Thompson. He graduated from Oil City High School. From there he served his country in the United States Air Force. He retired after 20 years proudly serving his country.
He married Patsy Thompson in 1961, while he was serving in the U.S. Air Force. Duke was stationed in Germany 1962-1966, the couple enjoyed traveling in their V.W. Bug and camping. They toured Germany, Switzerland, Holland, France, Luxemburg, Belgium, Austria, Spain, Denmark, and Sweden. They especially enjoyed touring castles along the Rhine and Mosel Rivers.
His hobbies included playing golf, fabricating locomotives, and he especially loved spending time with his wife and son. Duke and his wife shared a love for dogs. He enjoyed Jazz and German Polka Music. Duke loved his church and was very dedicated to the Lord. He was a member of Wylie Baptist Church.
Duke is preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Esther Thompson, and several siblings.
He is survived by one son, Jeffrie Alan Thompson; one brother, Bob Thompson; a sister-in-law, Betty Herring; one brother-in-law, Rick Herring and his wife Marilyn; nephew in law, Mark Rogers; numerous nieces and nephews; and countless children who considered him a grandfather like Pepper Grace and Hank who lived across the street from him.
Duke went to be with his Lord and Savior on January 4, 2025. The Celebration of his Life will be 11:00 AM, Wednesday, January 8, 2025, in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 Hwy 277 South, Abilene, Texas. The time of visitation will be begin at 10:00 AM before the service.
