Jayne E. Ritter, 64, of Abilene, Texas, passed away peacefully in her sleep from complications of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease on Monday, May 7, 2018. She was born on March 11, 1954 in Lansing, Michigan, to John and Katherine (Hamlin) Jones. She married Steven Ritter on November 19, 1994 and they moved to Texas to start a life together in the warm climate.
Jayne spent her life caring for others. In her career as a surgical technician she took great pride in her skills and developed life-long friendships. In her personal life she used her green thumb to maintain many vegetable and flower gardens. She was notorious for rescuing numerous cats, dogs, fish, turtles, birds, and any other animal she found stranded in the rain. She spent her retirement crafting, building her collection of plants, spending time with her husband, and chatting on the phone and Facebook with her children, grandchildren, and friends. She was dedicated to attending pulmonary rehabilitation where she gained many new cherished friends.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Steven Ritter, loving daughters Brandie (Jason) Crane, Emily (Brian) Martinelli, and Nicole (Benji) Brooks; sisters Jan (Mike) Mowery, Joyce Burden, and Peggy (Ray) Smejkal; grandchildren Rylie, Boden, Laycie, and Bronx; and many nieces and nephews. She leaves behind two dogs, several fish, and her many plants. She was preceded in death by her parents John and Katherine Jones.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Pawed Squad Dog Rescue, P.O. Box 7121, Abilene, Texas 79606 in her honor.
