Jeanette Caronna

Visitation will be 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM Thursday October 25, 2018 at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South. A Funeral Service will be held 2:00 PM , Friday, October 26, 2018 at Elmcrest Baptist Church, 517 N Pioneer Dr Abilene, Texas.

Jeanette Gibson Simpson Caronna was born April 6, 1935 in Vernon, Texas to Mineola Taylor and Buddy Gibson.

She is preceded in death by her parents, first husband David Lee Simpson, second husband John Caronna, brother in law George Nelson Jr., and daughter in law Lisa Simpson.

She is survived by her son, David Simpson and his wife Melinda; son, Bryon Simpson and his wife Beth Anne; daughter, Luene Williams and her husband Jack; stepson Bill Cook and his wife Triana; stepson Chris Caronna and his wife Heather; sister Barbara Sue Bannister and her husband Gene; sister in law Mary Ann French and her husband Larry; and sister in law Betty Kay Simpson; twelve grandchildren; Kyle Simpson, Melissa Degetaire, Leanne West, Michelle Simpson, Brandon Briley, Becky Tweed, Brittany Cross, Casey Land, Chris Sneed, Muireann Caronna, Maggie Caronna, Jack Caronna; numerous nieces, nephews and great grandchildren.

Jeanette and David Simpson were married shortly after high school and lived in Fort Worth where David was born then in Brownwood where Bryon and Luene were born and then moved to Abilene in 1965 with their 3 children in tow. They purchased their house on Jefferson after looking at it with flashlights late one evening and lived in that same house all their years in Abilene. Jeanette and David were married for 38 years.

Jeanette worked at JC Penneys and Dillards but her true talent and love was sewing. She enjoyed making beautiful clothes for everyone. She also enjoyed crocheting afghans and many still have that gift from her today. She enjoyed her family with all their activities and those special summer camping trips in a station wagon with tents. She loved riding her bike and hiking in her early years.

She had a second love in her life and that was John Caronna. She and John had both lost their spouses so as she said, she went across the street and got him.They enjoyed camping as well but this time in a camper. They spent much of their time with family and friends, playing cards or dominos and visiting.
Jeanette and John were married 23 years.

She loved all the animals she had throughout her life but none more than Princess.

She attended Elmcrest Baptist Church and had a wonderful church family there.

Jeanette had a good life here on this earth. We will miss here dearly but have comfort in knowing she is now reunited with her Heavenly family.
