Jeanette Hoppe, 79, passed away Friday, August 26, 2016. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, August 31, 2016, at Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Elmwood Memorial Park.
Jeanette was born December 30, 1937 in Stamford, Texas to the late George and Minnie Fay Owens Turner. She was part of the 1957 graduating class from Haskell High School. She received her nursing license from Stamford Memorial Hospital in 1960 and worked as a nurse for 34 years. She worked at Hendrick Medical Center and for several doctors in Abilene. She married Albert Hoppe in 1957 and enjoyed almost 55 years of marriage until his passing in 2012. Jeanette was a member of Beta Sigma Phi for 33 years as well as a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She supported the Wounded Warriors and loved shopping, travelling and especially hosting holiday gatherings for all of her family.
She is survived by one daughter, Malinda Chapman and husband Mike of Clyde; one son, Brad Hoppe and wife Eureka of Austin; one sibling, Ramah McGuire; five grandchildren, Jessica Frazier and husband William, Shelby Chapman, Haley Hoppe, Sydney Hoppe, Shondrika Bridges; two great-grandchildren, Rilee Frazier and Addie Frazier.
Jeanette was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Hoppe, and two siblings, Vic Turner and Rhonda Kay Maguire.
