Jeanie Mitchell

Gloria Jean Mitchell "Jeanie" passed away on Wednesday April 4, 2018. A visitation will be 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM, Thursday, April 5, 2018 at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South. A funeral service will be at 11:00 AM, Friday, April 6, 2018 at Hodges Baptist Church 13933 Co Rd 495, Hawley, TX 79525. Interment will follow the service in Midway Cemetery.

Jeanie was born August 31st, 1943 in Gorman, Texas to Frankie and Elaine Skaggs. She met the love of her life Billy at the Chuck Wagon Drive Inn. They married March 31st, 1961 at Rock Bluff community near Gorman, Texas. The couple was blessed with three children during their marriage. She began bowling in 1967 and was active in leagues until 1990. During those years she developed many special friendships. One of those includes 25 years of serving faithfully in the nursery at Hodges Baptist Church. Above all Jeanie was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother and will be dearly missed.

She is preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, Tommy Skaggs.

Jeanie is survived by her husband, Billy Mitchell; three children, Joe Mitchell and his wife Sarah, Cindy Hord and her husband Cody, and Scotty Mitchell and his wife Cathy; eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and one sister, Charlotte Stewart.
