Jeannie Bell, 68, of Abilene, Texas passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Monday, May 25, 2020, after a long battle of kidney failure and heart issues.
A memorial service will be held Friday, June 5, 2020 at 10 AM at the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel. Inurnment will follow at Elmwood Memorial Park. The service will be live streamed and broadcast for your convenience.
Jeannie was born on August 15, 1951, in Sinton, Texas to the late Augustine Martinez and Santos Morin. She was one of nine children, being the oldest sister, that grew up in Sinton, Texas. Jeannie then moved to Knox City, Texas where she graduated as a Knox City Greyhound. She continued her journey in life in Wichita Falls, Texas where she met her soulmate Tommy V. Bell. They moved to Abilene, Texas to start their new life together. Jeannie’s career started as general ledger for First National Bank for many years, but then changed paths to bookkeeping and tax preparer for over 20 years. Her last job was working as the CRS for Workforce Solutions for 5 years. Tommy and Jeannie were married for over 35 years before his passing in 2004. She was a loving mother of three children, 9 grandchildren, which she was amazing at and a friend to many. One of her favorite hobbies was watching John Elway and the Denver Broncos dominate the NFL every week with family and friends. She was a very spiritual woman and had a relationship with God that was untouchable. Jeannie Bell is leaving a legacy that is priceless and her memory lives on in the faces of her children, grandchildren, and people she inspired.
Jeannie is survived by her children, Vanessa Bell-Cortinaz (Chris), Shannon Perry (Justin) and Tommy “Tab” Bell (Tazman); grandchildren, Scarlett Perry, Isabella Bell, Jady Cortinaz, Leleanna Bell, Ryvan Cortinaz, Izzy Bell, Tommy Addison Bell, Aurora Jubilee Perry and Trinity Bell; brothers, Augustine Martinez, Juan Martinez, Robert Martinez, Edward Martinez and Danny Martinez; sisters, LaVern Desantos and Diane Martinez; many nephews and nieces.
Jeannie was also preceded in death by a brother Rick Martinez.
