Jennifer Jo Moran (Johnson) of Austin left this earth on August 9, 2022, at the age of 76. She was born in Breckenridge, Texas in January 1946. She was married in 1964 to Johney Mack Moran, and had two children, Jocelyn and John all of whom survive her. Jennifer graduated with a bachelor's degree from Tarleton State University in Stephenville, Texas while working full-time and caring for her family.
Jennifer retired from the State of Texas Commission of Alcohol and Drug Abuse as a DWI Coordinator in 2004. Jennifer was responsible For the development of the sign: “DWI You Can't Afford It.” These signs are on the side of many highways across the State of Texas. DWI education was a passion of Jennifer’s and she carried that into retirement as she continued to teach DWI offender classes for Travis County.
Jennifer is survived by her husband Johney Mack Moran of Austin, son John Moran of Texarkana, daughter Jocelyn and husband Bill of Austin. She is also survived by her brother Danny Johnson and wife Barbara and Sister Martha as well as nieces and nephews.
There will be a family viewing at 4pm Friday August 11th at the Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home at 6300 W. William Cannon in Austin. Interment will be 10am Monday August 15th at the Elmwood Memorial Park 5750 Hwy 277 South Abilene, TX. In lieu of flowers the family recommends donations to Mothers Against Drunk Drivers in Jennifer’s honor.
