Jerry Hendricks

Jerry Hendricks, 75, went to his heavenly Father Sunday, June 26, 2016. He died at home in his wife's arms after a long battle with illness.

Jerry was born August 17, 1940 in Abilene, Texas to Marion Eule Hendricks and Ann Mae Dalton. He was a Sergeant in the United States Army, serving from 1961 until 1964. He married Brenda Long on April 4, 1963 and the couple made their home in Abilene. He loved fishing and hunting, watching wrestling and westerns, and especially loved to pick on other people. He loved his family and his pets, Zera Ann and Midnight Terra. When his illness allowed, he attended Oldham Lane Church of Christ with his wife, Brenda.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Brenda Diane Hendricks; and a brother, Wayland Carter.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda; a son, Jerry Don Hendricks; a granddaughter, Abbigail Diener; two great-grandchildren, Gage Evans and Aspen Evans; a brother, Garland Carter and wife Beverly; a very special niece, Tammie Lee, who he dearly loved, and other special nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South. Funeral services will be 11:30 AM Thursday, June 30, 2016, at Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel. Interment with military honors will follow at Texas State Veteran's Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Curtis Johnson, Tammie Lee, Edward Lee and Stan Owens.

A family meal will be held at Oldham Lane Church of Christ following the burial.
