Jerry Wilburn

Jerry Don Wilburn, 76, of Abilene passed away Wednesday, December 09, 2015 in the presence of his loving children.

Inurnment will be held Saturday, December 12 at 1:00 PM at Elmwood Memorial Park.

Jerry was born on July 28, 1939 to the late R. E. "Rooster" Wilburn and Lenora Stroud Wilburn in Compere, Texas. Although quiet and nonchalant about his service in the military, he successfully completed his enlistment term for the US Navy. On August 31, of 1963 Jerry married Phyllis Marie Palmer in Big Spring, Texas. They had 32 great years of marriage until Phyllis' passing in 1996. Jerry worked in many different fields, ranging from silk screening to aircraft production management. Primarily though he excelled as a forklift operator for Crown Cork and Seal. Jerry was a very conservative man, especially about his own traditions and stories

Jerry is survived by his daughter Twyla Walters and husband James of Norman, Oklahoma; son, Tristan Wilburn of Abilene; grandchildren, Alora Walters-Wilkerson, Max Walters, Nicholas Wilburn, Cai Wilburn, Avery Wilburn; and siblings, Pete Wilburn, Eddie Wilburn, Mac Wilburn, Glen Wilburn, and Dana Wilburn.

Jerry was preceded in death by his brothers Jody and Waymon Wilburn. Jerry will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
