Jessie Bizzcarro Alba, 71, died Thursday, September 4, 2008 at a Knox City care home. His graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, September 9th in the Garden of Gethsemane at Elmwood Memorial Park. Viewing and visitation will be from 5 to 7 PM on Monday at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 HWY 277 South.
Mr. Alba was born on April 16, 1937 in Lott, Texas and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He married Margaret Huckaby on May 31, 1964. Mr. Alba worked as an electrician at White Sands Missal Range, New Mexico until his retirement. While in New Mexico he and Margaret were active volunteers with the New Mexico State Police Mounted Patrol. He came to Abilene in 1977 where he established Abilene General Appliance and worked tirelessly with Veterans in the Big Country. He was past commander of Disabled American Veterans Chapter 36 and was appointed by National DAV as the VAVS Representative at the Big Spring VA Hospital. Mr. Alba loved hunting and fishing. He was a member of St. Marks Episcopal Church.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Margaret of Abilene; his children, Matilda Jimenez of Abilene, Patricia Bustos of California, Barbara Presnell of Anchorage, Alaska, Jay B. Alba of Abilene and Joseph B. Alba of Okinawa, Japan; two brothers, Rudy and George Alba both of Elgin; 15 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kelly Evon Alba and his grandson, Joshua Presnell.
