On May 26, 2009, Jesus Chuey Garcia, went to be with his Lord and Savior.

Funeral Mass with Monsignor Fred Nawarskas officiating will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 29, 2009, at the Holy Family Catholic Church, 5410 Buffalo Gap Rd., in Abilene with burial following in Elmwood Memorial Park. Viewing will be from 4:00-6:00pm on Thursday with rosary beginning at 6:00pm in the Elmwood Funeral Home at 5750 HWY 277 South. The Celebration of Life Service will be provided by Holy Family Catholic Church following the burial services.

Chuey was born to Librado and Eloisa Garcia on November 26, 1945 in Harlingen, Texas. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in February 1, 1967 and served at Camron Bay during the Vietnam Era. Chuey met and married the love of his life Juanita Janie in Abilene, Texas while serving at Dyess AFB. They were married June 17, 1967.

Chuey retired from Southwestern Bell after 35 years of faithful service. Over the span of Chueys life he had been active with the Sweetwater Jaycees; he served on the TELCO Credit Union Board of Directors including serving one term as President of Board of Directors. Chuey was also a Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus holding various positions as State Deputy Director and Director of the Knights of Columbus Bowling Association. Chuey was an avid hunter and golfer. He never met anyone that wasnt a friend. He was a Catholic and member of Holy Family Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents. Chuey is survived by his beloved wife Janie of 42 years, two sons, O.J and wife Jo of San Antonio, Andy of Abilene and his fianc Amanda Moreno of Merkel; two brothers, Juan Manuel and wife Lupita of Harlingen Texas, and Santos and wife, Sylvia, of Corpus Christi, and sister, Anna Maria and husband, Ignacio Nieto, of Laredo, TX.

Pallbearers will include Bryant Cawthon, Mike Harrison, Ben Molina, Alex Moreno, Frank Rodriguez, Robert Rodriguez, and honorary pallbearers Larry Moreno and Tony Villanueva.

In lieu of flowers, the family request any donations be sent to Holy Family Catholic Church, 5410 Buffalo Gap Rd, Abilene, TX 79606
