Jimmy Waits

Jimmy Joe Waits - Residing in Abilene, Texas passed on January 29, 2019 at age 76. A memorial service will be held at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South in Abilene on Saturday February 2, 2019 at 2:00 PM.

He is survived and will be forever remembered by his wife of 56 years, Linda Waits; his son, Jeff of Abilene; and his daughter, Melissa of Abilene. Three grandchildren, Briana Phillips, Casey Waits, Collin Waits and wife Bailey; and four great grandchildren.

Preceding him in death are his mother, Ruby Grizzle; brother, Gerald Don Waits; brother, Charles Waits; and sister, Barbara Ballew.

Jimmy was born in Blum, Texas on March 10, 1942. Jimmy served in the Army from 1960-1962. He was honorably discharged, when his father passed, to return home to care for his mother. He married Linda Frailin in 1962. They lived in Bedford, Texas before moving to Abilene where they have resided for 47 years.

After marring Linda, Jimmy worked full time for Mrs. Bairds in Ft.Worth and attended night classes for 10 years to be able to receive a diploma and better provide for his family.
Jimmy was great man of character. His family and providing for them was of utmost importance to him. He was very committed to family and the relationships with each. He spoiled his children and very much spoiled his grandchildren. Always going to any length necessary to provide a need.

In his career as a boot salesman he worked for Nacoma boots for 27 years and Corral Boots for 18 years until his retirement in 2018. During his career in the boot industry Jimmy received sales awards but what he considered the greater accomplishments are the lifelong friendships that he made through the years.

In our hearts we will continue to love Jimmy and celebrate his life.
