Jo Aslin

Jo Nell Aslin, 85, passed away Thursday, October 20, 2016 in Abilene. Visitation will be 10:00 AM, Monday, October 24, 2016 at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South, followed by a graveside funeral service beginning at 11:00 AM, in Elmwood Memorial Park.

Jo Nell was born November 25, 1930 in Lamesa, TX to parents, John Thurman and Lora Jackson Patterson. She graduated high school in Lamesa. She married Hamilton Aslin after high school and they began a family. They owned and operated the Piggly Wiggly Grocery Store in Welch, TX before moving to Anson and opening Ham's Supermarket.
Jo Nell was a faithful member of Pioneer Drive Baptist Church and was an avid reader, especially historical books of the local area and the West.

She is survived by one son, Don Aslin and wife Kathy of Abilene; two daughters, Kathy Adkins of Abilene and Kristy Hoppe and husband Tim of Oregon; seven grandchildren, Kerry Aslin and wife Kendra, Kacey Thornton and husband Brad, Kelly Hobgood and husband Josh, Laynie Cogburn and husband Matthew, Lindsay Johnson and husband Kevin, Chelsea Johnson and husband Matthew, Magean Downs; and fourteen great- grandchildren; one sister, Elaine Davis and husband George of Lamesa; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hamilton Aslin; two sisters, Shirley Jones and Joyce Lee; and her parents.

The family suggest memorial donations in Jo Nell's memory be made to Hendrick Hospice Care. 1682 Hickory Street, Abilene, TX 79601
